Some late built 1990 model, as well as ALL 1991 model "F" cars equipped with T-Tops (CC-1 option) will have a new T-Top panel weatherstrip. This new weatherstrip, P/N 10165420 differs from the previous types in two areas:
1. The new weatherstrip does not have any retaining tabs to hold the butt joints in position after adjustment. The weatherstrip will be glued into the retainer, and no other retention is required.
2. The moulded ends of the weatherstrip are much shorter and do not extend toward the centre as much as the previous weatherstrip.
CANSPO will continue to service the previous weatherstrip (P/N 20680014) until the stock is depleted. At that time, the new part will replace all past model applications.
When replacing past model weatherstrips with the new part:
1. Remove the weatherstrip from the T-Top panel.
2. Install the panel onto the vehicle.
3. Apply a continuous bead of 3M# 08011 adhesive (or equivalent) in the outboard edge of the retainer.
4. Install the weatherstrip into retainer and position butt joints for light contact.
5. Allow 30 minutes drying time.
Use published operation and time allowance.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
