Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the valve rocker arms and the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Pushrod Replacement.
  3. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 41374  Size: SH
  5. Remove the valve lifter guide bolts.
  6. Remove the valve lifter guide.
  7. Remove the valve lifters.

Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the valve lifters with prelube, GM P/N 12345501 or equivalent.

  2. Object Number: 41374  Size: SH
  3. Install the valve lifters.
  4. Install the valve lifter guide.
  5. Install the valve lifter guide bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the guide bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  8. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Pushrod Replacement.
  9. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
