Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement for Chevrolet Camaro 1996
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to General
Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
- Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt.
- Remove the vehicle speed sensor and the O-ring seal. Use a suitable
container in order to catch any transmission fluid that may spill.
Installation Procedure
- Install the vehicle speed sensor with a new O-ring seal.
- Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the speed sensor bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check transmission fluid, add as required. Refer to
