Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the control lever boot assembly. Refer to Control Lever Boot Assembly .
  2. Notice: The upper and lower transmission control levers are bonded together. Separation of the levers will damage the control assembly. Replace a damaged control assembly.

  3. Remove four bolts and the control assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean old sealant from the extension housing and from the control assembly sealing surfaces.

  2. Object Number: 33331  Size: SH
  3. Apply a continuous 3 mm (0.125 in) bead of RTV Sealant on the extension housing-to-control assembly sealing surface. Use GM P/N 12345739 or the equivalent.

  4. Object Number: 33330  Size: SH
  5. Install the control assembly and the four attaching bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the control lever boot assembly. Refer to Control Lever Boot Assembly .
