Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12609  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
  3. Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 12764  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fuel tube bracket attaching screw and the fuel tube bracket.

  6. Object Number: 13652  Size: SH
  7. Remove the fuel outlet tube retainer clip (4).
  8. Remove the fuel outlet tube (5) from the pressure regulator (1).
  9. Remove the O-ring (3) from the fuel outlet tube (5). Discard the O-ring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 13652  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new O-ring (3) with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the O-ring (3) on the fuel outlet tube (5).
  3. Push the fuel outlet tube (5) into the pressure regulator (1).
  4. Install the fuel outlet tube retainer clip (4).

  6. Install the fuel tube bracket and the attaching screw.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel tube bracket attaching screw to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
  9. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Inspect for leaks.
  12. 9.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    9.4. Check for fuel leaks.
