Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12592  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.

  3. Object Number: 12767  Size: SH
  4. Remove the IAC valve.

  5. Object Number: 12768  Size: SH
  6. Remove the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws.
  7. Remove the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
  8. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
  9. Inspect the gasket sealing surfaces for corrosion or damage that would cause a coolant leak. Replace the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly or the throttle body if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 12768  Size: SH
  1. Install a new gasket.
  2. Install the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly.
  3. Install the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws to 3.2 N·m (28 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
