Clutch Actuator Cylinder Replacement 5-Speed
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 36221 Hydraulic Clutch Line Separator
- Remove the actuator cylinder line from
the actuator cylinder using the J 36221
.
- Remove the 5-speed transmission from the vehicle. Refer
to
Transmission Removal
in Manual Transmission.
- Remove the actuator bolts/screws.
- Remove the actuator cylinder from the transmission.
Installation Procedure
- Install the actuator cylinder to the transmission.
Install the clutch actuator bolts/screws.
Tighten
Tighten the clutch actuator bolts/screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the 5-speed transmission to the vehicle. Refer to
Transmission Removal
in Manual Transmission.
Important: Make sure the braded clutch actuator line is not twisted or kinked.
The line must be maintained away from other components in order to avoid line
damage.
The quick connect must be pushed on, then pulled back in order to verify
engagement. Do not rely on the audible click or a visual verification.
- Install the actuator cylinder line to the actuator
cylinder.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable assembly
to the battery negative terminal.
Tighten
Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to
Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding
.
