Cylinder Head Replacement Right Side

1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .



2. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe from the engine. Refer to Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement .



3. Remove the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .



4. Remove the valve rocker arms, pedestals and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .



5. Remove the right side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal .

1. Install the right side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation .



2. Install the valve rocker arms, pedestals and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .



3. Install the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .



4. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe to the engine. Refer to Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement .



5. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
6. Inspect for any leaks.

Cylinder Head Replacement Left Side

Tools Required

J 25034-C Pulley Puller Remover

1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .



2. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement .



3. Remove the power steering pump pulley using J 25034-C .



4. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (2) from the reservoir (1).



5. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose (1) from the pump (2).



6. Remove the power steering pump.



7. Remove the power steering pump bracket.



8. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .



9. Remove the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .



10. Remove the valve rocker arms, pedestal, and valve pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
11. Remove the ground wires and bolts from the rear of the head.



12. Remove the left side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal .

Tools Required

J 25033-C Pulley Pump Installer

1. Install the left side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the ground wires and bolts to the rear of the head.

Tighten
Tighten the ground bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).




3. Install the valve rocker arms, pedestal, and valve pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .



4. Install the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .



5. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .



6. Install the power steering pump bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the steering pump brackets to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).




7. Install the power steering pump.

Tighten
Tighten the pump brace bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).




8. Install the power steering gear inlet hose (1) to the pump (2).

Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose (1) fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).




9. Install the power steering gear outlet hose (2) to the reservoir (1).



10. Install the power steering pump pulley using the J 25033-C .



11. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement .



12. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
13. Inspect for any leaks.
