Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 208459  Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information
  3. Remove the transmission fluid indicator tube bolt.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure in Engine Controls - 5.7L.
  6. Important: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when separative fuel system components in order to prevent dripping of fuel and/or dirt and other contaminants from entering the fuel system.

  7. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail.
  8. disconnect the fuel line from the fuel vapor purge valve.

  10. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector at the air intake duct.
  11. Disconnect the mass airflow (MAF) sensor connector at the air intake duct.

  13. Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body and the air cleaner box.

  15. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector from the throttle body.
  16. Disconnect the throttle position sensor (TPS) electrical connector from the throttle body.
  17. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  19. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid electrical connector.

  21. Remove the EGR valve pipe and solenoid.

  23. Unsnap the cruise control cable from the throttle lever, if equipped.
  24. • Push the cruise cable connector forward to unsnap.
    • Unsnap the cable from the engine bracket.

  25. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttler lever.

  27. Remove the accelerator control cable and cruise control servo bracket.

  29. Disconnect the right side fuel injector connectors.

  31. Disconnect the left side fuel injector connectors.
  32. Remove the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.7L.

  34. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector.
  35. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum port on the MAP sensor housing.

  37. Disconnect the knock sensor connector (4).
  38. Disconnect all the remaining electrical connections from the intake manifold.

  40. Remove the knock sensor jumper wire from the PCV hose.

  42. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the PCV valve.

  44. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the rocker cover.

  46. Remove the fresh air hose from the throttle body and coil assembly.

  48. Remove the engine coolant air bleed hose from the throttle body.

  50. Remove the throttle body heater outlet hose from the throttle body.

  52. Remove the EVAP canister purge tube.

  54. Remove the canister purge valve and bracket.

  57. Remove the fuel rail stop bracket from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the intake manifold. Refer toIntake Manifold Removal .
  2. Install the fuel rail stop bracket to the intake manifold.

  3. Object Number: 220617  Size: SH
  4. Install the canister purge valve and bracket.

  5. Object Number: 220615  Size: SH
  6. Install the EVAP canister purge tube.

  7. Object Number: 220620  Size: SH
  8. Install the throttle body heater outlet hose to the throttle body.

  10. Install the engine coolant air bleed hose to the throttle body.

  12. Install the fresh air hose to the throttle body and coil assembly.

  13. Object Number: 220613  Size: SH
  14. Connect the PCV valve pipe to the rocker cover.

  15. Object Number: 220598  Size: SH
  16. Connect the PCV valve pipe to the PCV valve.

  17. Object Number: 220612  Size: SH
  18. Connect the knock sensor jumper wire to the PCV valve hose.

  20. Connect the knock sensor connector (4).

  22. Connect the MAP sensor connector.
  23. Connect the vacuum hose.

  25. Connect the left side fuel injector connectors.

  27. Connect the right side fuel injector connectors.
  28. Connect all remaining electrical connectors to the intake manifold.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  30. Install the accelerator control cable and cruise control servo bracket.
  31. Tighten
    Tighten the accelerator control cable and cruise control servo bracket nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  32. Install the accelerator cable to the throttle lever.

  34. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle lever, if equipped.

  36. Install the EGR valve pipe.
  37. Tighten

        • Tighten the EGR valve pipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the EGR valve pipe to cylinder head bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
        • Tighten the EGR valve pipe to intake manifold bolt to 12 N·m 106 lb in).

  38. Connect the EGR valve connector.
  39. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  41. Connect the TPS sensor connector to the throttle body.
  42. Connect the IAC sensor connector to the throttle body.

  44. Install the air intake duct.

  45. Object Number: 208553  Size: SH
  46. Connect the MAF sensor connector at the intake duct.
  47. Connect the IAT sensor connector at the intake duct.
  48. Remove the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.7L.

  49. Object Number: 220597  Size: SH
  50. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel rail.
  51. Connect the fuel line to the fuel vapor purge valve.
  52. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information

  53. Object Number: 208459  Size: SH
  54. Install the transmission fluid indicator bolt.
  55. Tighten
    Tighten the transmission fluid indicator tube bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  56. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
