  1. Turn the ignition ON and the engine OFF.
  2. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor connector.
  3. Using J 33431-C J33431 or equivalent, connect one red clip lead from the tester to the sensor connector terminal A.
  4. Connect the other red clip lead to ground.
  5. Adjust the resistance dials of the tester to 380 ohms and then 55 ohms.

Does the coolant temperature gauge register 71°C (160°F) and then 127°C (200°F)?

Replace the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor.

Inspect for a poor connection or high resistance in CKT 135.
