Inside Door Handle Rattle (Install Flocking Tape)

Some customers may comment on a rattle or buzz noise from the area of the inside door handle.

This condition may be caused by the door lock lever rubbing or vibrating against the inside door handle bezel.

Install a piece of flocking tape on the door handle bezel using the following procedure.

1. Remove the inside door handle bezel. Refer to the Handle Bezel Replacement -- Inside procedure in the Doors subsection of the Body & Accessories section of the Service Manual (SI2000 Document ID #364217).



2. Apply a 10 mm x 30 mm (3/8 in x 1 3/16 in) piece of flocking tape to the backside of the door handle bezel. Refer to the arrow in the illustration. Clean the surface of the door handle bezel before applying the tape using one of the cleaners listed below. Leave a 1 mm (1/16 in) gap between the edge of the tape and the door lock knob opening. Refer to the illustration.
3. Reinstall the inside door handle bezel. Refer to the Handle Bezel Replacement --Inside procedure in the Doors subsection of the Body & Accessories section of the Service Manual (SI2000 Document ID #364217).
