Generator Bracket Replacement 3.8 L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove generator rear brace. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement .
  2. Remove the fuel rail from the upper intake manifold. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

  3. Object Number: 165246  Size: SH
  4. Remove the generator brace bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the generator bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 165246  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the generator brace bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator brace bracket bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the fuel rail to the upper intake manifold. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  6. Install the generator rear brace. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement .

Generator Bracket Replacement 5.7 L Engine (Rear)

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 211626  Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator rear mounting bolt (to generator) (1).
  2. Remove the generator rear mounting bolt (to engine) (2).
  3. Remove the generator rear bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 211626  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear bracket.
  2. Install the generator rear mounting bolt (to generator) (1) until snug.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the generator rear mounting bolt (to engine) (2) until snug.
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the generator rear mounting bolt (to generator) (1) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the generator rear mounting bolt (to engine) (2) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

Generator Bracket Replacement 5.7 L Engine (Front)

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  3. Remove the generator bracket bolt and bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   1. Install the generator bracket and bolt.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the generator bracket bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  4. Install the accessory drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
