Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 490650  Size: SH
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket nuts (2).

  4. Object Number: 490653  Size: SH
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket  (1).

  6. Object Number: 490659  Size: SH
  7. Using a pry bar, lower the stabilizer shaft.
  8. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator (1).

Installation Procedure

Important: The slit of the shaft insulator must face the rear of the vehicle.

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator (1) to the stabilizer shaft.

  2. Object Number: 490653  Size: SH
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket (1) to the stabilizer shaft insulator.

  4. Object Number: 490650  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket nuts (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
