Compressor Pressure Relief Valve Installation V7 - Direct Mount

J 41790-A A/C Compressor Holding Fixture

  1. Clean the pressure relief valve seat area of the rear head.
  2. Lubricate the O-ring of the new pressure relief valve with clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the new pressure relief valve into the A/C compressor.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the valve to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Remove the A/C compressor from the J 41790-A .
  7. Install the A/C compressor into the vehicle.

  1. Clean the valve seat area on the rear head.
  2. Lubricate the O-ring of the new pressure relief valve and the O-ring assembly using new 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the new pressure relief valve (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the valve to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Perform a leak test. Refer to Compressor Leak Testing .
