Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen
Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant.
Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C refrigerant pressure
sensor.
- Remove the A/C evaporator
tube bolt from the HVAC module.
- Remove the A/C evaporator tube bolt from the condenser.
- Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the vehicle.
- Discard the O-rings.
- Remove the orifice and the pressure sensor, if replacing the tube.
Installation Procedure
- Lightly coat
the O-rings with a mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
- Install the orifice and the pressure sensor, if replacing the
tube.
- Install new O-rings.
- Install the A/C evaporator tube to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the A/C evaporator tube bolt to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C evaporator tube bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the A/C evaporator tube bolt to the module.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C evaporator tube bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical
connector to the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
