J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 208554  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector from the air intake duct (3.8).

  3. Object Number: 208553  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor and mass airflow sensor connectors from the air intake duct (5.7).

  5. Object Number: 554755  Size: SH
  6. Remove the air intake duct (3.8).

  7. Object Number: 208569  Size: SH
  8. Remove the air intake duct (5.7)
  9. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  11. Object Number: 365450  Size: SH
  12. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly nut from the condenser.
  13. Discard the O-ring.

  14. Object Number: 282946  Size: SH
  15. Remove the A/C evaporator tube bolt from the condenser.
  16. Discard the O-ring .
  17. Remove the radiator air upper baffle from the condenser. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.

  18. Object Number: 282959  Size: SH
  19. Remove the condenser from the radiator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 282959  Size: SH
  1. Install the condenser to the radiator.
  2. Install the radiator air upper baffle to the condenser. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 282946  Size: SH
  4. Install a new O-ring .
  5. Install the A/C evaporator tube bolt to the condenser.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C evaporator tube bolt to the condenser to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Install a new O-ring.
  8. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly nut to the condenser.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly nut to the condenser to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  12. Object Number: 208569  Size: SH
  13. For the 5.7 L engine install the air intake duct .

  14. Object Number: 554755  Size: SH
  15. For the 3.8 L engine install the air intake duct.

  16. Object Number: 208553  Size: SH
  17. Connect the intake air temperature sensor and mass airflow sensor connectors to the air intake duct (5.7).

  18. Object Number: 208554  Size: SH
  19. Connect the intake air temperature sensor connector to the air intake duct (3.8).
  20. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  21. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
