Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    2. Object Number: 282922 Size: SH
  2. Remove the temperature control cable from the module.
  3. Remove the air distributor case screws.
  4. Remove the air distributor cover.
  5. Remove the heater case screws.
  6. Remove the heater case cover by inserting a flat bladed tool in the retaining slot and pushing upward on the retainers.

    7. Push the tabs rearward at the same time .

  7. Loosen the lower mode door retaining linkage screw.

    8. Object Number: 718014 Size: SH
  8. Push the mode door out of the way.

    9. Object Number: 718005 Size: SH
  9. Pushing upward on the inside of the air distributor case, pull the temperature door outward from the top hinge hole.

    10. Object Number: 718004 Size: SH
  10. Remove the door from the lower hinge hole.

    11. Pull door out through the mode door opening.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 718004 Size: SH
  1. Align and install the bottom temperature door into the lower hinge hole of the air distributor case.

    2. Object Number: 718005 Size: SH
  2. Install the door to the upper hinge hole.

    3. Object Number: 718014 Size: SH
  3. Install the mode door.

    4. Object Number: 718016 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the lower mode door retaining linkage screw.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the linkage screw to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  5. Install the heater core case cover and retaining screws.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the heater core case cover retaining screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  6. Install the air distributor case cover and retaining screws.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the air distributor case screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  7. Install the temperature control cable to the HVAC module assembly.
  8. Install the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
