Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Important: Cap or tap the open end of the condenser and the evaporator line immediately in order to prevent contamination.

  4. Remove the bolt to the evaporator tube from the condenser.

  5. Object Number: 282946  Size: SH

    Important: The nuts from the filter.

  6. Remove the filter.
  7. Discard the O-rings.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the O-rings with clean 535 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  2. Install the O-rings onto the liquid line.
  3. Install the evaporator tube into the refrigerant filter. Hand tighten the nuts.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the evaporator tube bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator tube bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Ensure that the evaporator line is bottomed out into the refrigerant filter.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the filter nuts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
