Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the left rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Cargo Area Side Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  2. Rotate the bypass valve on the pump clockwise to the fully open position.
  3. Release the folding top latches at the windshield header.
  4. Manually lower the folding top approximately half way.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the rear defogger, if equipped.
  6. Remove the right and left trim panels. Refer to Cargo Area Front Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the nuts (2) from the number 5 bow.
  8. Wrap a shop towel around the hydraulic cylinders to minimize fluid leakage.
  9. Remove the upper and lower hoses from the right and left hydraulic cylinders.

  10. Remove the folding top main pivot bracket nuts from the B pillar.

  11. Remove the folding top assembly from the vehicle with an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the folding top assembly to the vehicle with an assistant.

    2. Object Number: 871340 Size: SH
  2. Align the folding top main pivot brackets to the studs on the B pillar.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the folding top main pivot bracket nuts to the B pillar.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the nuts to the number 5 bow.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the rear defogger electrical connectors (1) if equipped.
  6. Install the upper and lower hoses to the right and left hydraulic cylinders.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the hose fittings to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  7. Remove the shop towels from the hydraulic cylinders.
  8. Install the right and left trim panels. Refer to Cargo Area Front Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  9. Close and latch the folding top.
  10. Rotate the bypass valve on the pump counterclockwise to the fully closed position.
  11. Install the left rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Cargo Area Side Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  12. Check and adjust the folding top as necessary. Refer to Folding Top Adjustment .
  13. Water test the folding top. Refer to Waterleak Test Preparation in Water Leaks.
