Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 318924 Size: LH
  1. Insert a small flat-bladed tool into the latch clip (2) from the primary latch in order to disconnect the cable (1).
  2. Pry the cable grommet from the primary latch.
  3. Pull the latch release cable (1) out through the hole in the radiator support.
  4. Remove the body hinge pillar trim panel from the driver side. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  5. Remove the latch release cable screws (2).
  6. Remove the latch release cable handle (3).
  7. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to pry the cowl grommet. Remove the cowl grommet.
  8. Record the latch release cable route.
  9. Remove the latch release cable (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Route the latch release cable (1) properly.
  2. Install the latch release cable (1) through the cowl.
  3. Install the cowl grommet.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the following components:
    5. 4.1. The hood latch release cable handle (3)
    4.2. The hood primary latch release cable screws (2)

    Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Install the body hinge pillar trim panel to the driver side. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

    6. Object Number: 318924 Size: LH
  6. Install the latch release cable (1) to the primary latch with the following procedure:
    7. 6.1. Connect the latch release cable (1) to the cable clip (2).
    6.2. Route the latch release cable (1) through the hole in the radiator support.
    6.3. Insert the end of the latch release cable (1) into the latch clip and attach the cable grommet.
