Headlamp Bracket Replacement Pontiac
Remove Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the screws (9) from the rear of the headlamp door.
- Remove the manual crank cover (4) and manually raise the
headlamp doors.
- Remove the screws (6) from the headlamp bezel (7)
and remove the bezel.
- Remove the headlamp door front screws (8) and remove the
door.
- Remove the bolts (6) from the attaching headlamp
bracket.
- Remove the bolts (1) from the center impact bar support.
- Reposition the center impact bar (2) and partially remove
the headlamp assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (3) from the headlamp
assembly and remove the headlamp assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical
connection (3) to the headlamp assembly.
- Reposition the center impact bar (2) and install the headlamp
assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
to the center impact bar support (2).
Tighten
Tighten the headlamp bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the bolts to the attaching headlamp bracket (5).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts from the bracket brace to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Install the headlamp door and install the headlamp door front
screws (8).
- Install the headlamp bezel (7) and install the bezel screws (6).
- Manually lower the crank cover (4).
- Install the screws to the rear of the headlight door (9).
- Verify the headlamp alignment and projection.
- Verify the headlamp door operation.
- Close the hood.
Headlamp Bracket Replacement Chevrolet
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the electrical connections to the headlamps.
- Remove the headlamp bracket
bolts (3,5,6), the bracket nut (2), and the headlamp bracket
brace (4) from the headlamp bracket (7).
- Remove the headlamp bracket (7) from the mounting bracket
studs (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the headlamp bracket (7)
to the vehicle radiator support (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the headlamp bracket bolts (3,5,6), the bracket nut (2),
and the headlamp bracket brace (4) to the headlamp bracket (7).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connection to the headlamps.
- Connect the battery. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Close the hood.
- Install the headlamp assembly. Refer to
Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Install the front bumper support and the support bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the front fascia bumper. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Verify the headlamp alignment and projection.
