Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 282922  Size: SH
  1. Remove the right instrument panel (IP) insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the temperature control cable bolt.
  3. Disconnect the temperature control cable from the HVAC module assembly.
  4. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  6. Remove the HVAC control assembly screws.
  7. Remove the HVAC control assembly from the IP to access the temperature control cable connection.
  8. Important: When releasing the control cable clips, use a small screwdriver to remove the cable from the control.

  9. Remove the temperature control cable from the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the temperature control cable to the HVACcontrol assembly.
  2. Install the HVAC control assembly to the IP.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the HVAC control assembly screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten thescrews to 2.2 N·m (19 lb in).

  6. Connect the temperature control cable to the HVAC module assembly.
  7. Use the following steps in order to install the temperature control cable to the control:
  8. 5.1. Install the temperature control cable to the lever arm.
    5.2. Align the shaft with the temperature control cable shaft.
    5.3. Press the temperature control cable clips into the slot in the control.
    5.4. Ensure that the temperature control cable clips are in place.
  9. Install the temperature control cable screw.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  11. Install the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
