  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.
  4. Open the driver's door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect C216.
  3. Open the driver's door.

Test the key in ignition switch signal circuit between C216 and the BCM for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the key in ignition switch signal circuit between C216 and the ignition key alarm switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
