Radio Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 296691  Size: SH
  1. Unsnap the instrument panel (IP) accessory trim plate (2).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the switches (3), if equipped.

  3. Object Number: 296692  Size: SH
  4. Remove the radio bracket bolts (2).
  5. Slide the radio (1) out from the IP.

  6. Object Number: 296693  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the following components from the radio (1):
  8. • The antenna cable (2)
    • The IP wiring harness connector (3)
  9. Remove the radio from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radio (1) to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 296693  Size: SH
  3. Connect the following components to the radio:
  4. • The antenna cable (2)
    • The IP wiring harness connector (3)

    Object Number: 296692  Size: SH
  5. Slide the radio (1) into the IP.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the radio bracket bolts (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (2) to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  9. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the switches (3), if equipped.
  10. Install the IP accessory trim plate (2).
  11. Disable the radio Theftlock® feature. Refer to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation .

Removal Procedure

  1. Unsnap the instrument panel (IP) accessory trim plate.

  2. Object Number: 296695  Size: SH
  3. Remove the radio bracket bolts (1).
  4. Slide the radio (2) out from the IP.

  5. Object Number: 296702  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the following components from the radio (4):
  7. • The IP wiring harness connector (1)
    • The remote CD connector (2)
    • The antenna cable (3)
  8. Remove the radio from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 296702  Size: SH
  1. Install the radio  (4) to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the following components to the radio:
  3. • The antenna cable (3)
    • The remote CD connector (2)
    • The IP wiring harness connector (1)

    Object Number: 296695  Size: SH
  4. Slide the radio (2) into the IP.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   6. Install the radio bracket bolts (1) in the following sequence:
  7. 4.1. Lower left
    4.2. Upper right
    4.3. Upper left

    Tighten
    Tighten the radio bracket bolts to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  8. Install the IP accessory trim plate.
  9. Disable the radio Theftlock® feature. Refer to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation .
