CAMPAIGN: ENGINE COOLING FAN INTERFERENCE

Subject: PRODUCT CAMPAIGN 82C21 ENGINE COOLING FAN BLADE INTERFERENCE WITH ALTERNATOR SHAFT - 1982 FULL SIZE CHEVROLET MODELS EQUIPPED WITH SEO 9C1 (POLICE PACKAGE, RPO LM1 (5.7L 350 4BBL V8), RPO C60 (AIR CONDITIONING) AND RPO 7K4 (80 AMP ALTERNATOR)

General Motors has determined that some 1982 Full Size Chevrolet Models equipped with SEO 9Cl (Police Package), RPO LM1 (5.7L 350 4BBL V8), RPO C60 (Air Conditioning) and RPO 7K4 (80 Amp Alternator) were produced with in- correct engine fan clutches. The incorrect fan clutch does not allow sufficient clearance between the engine cooling fan blade and the alternator shaft. This may result in contact between the fan blade and the alter- nator shaft.

To correct this condition, it will be necessary to replace the fan clutch and fan blade on all affected vehicles.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
