FRONT DOOR WILL NOT STAY OPEN ON A SLIGHT INCLINE-NEW SPRING

Subject: FRONT DOORS WON'T HOLD OPEN ON SLIGHT INCLINE/FRONT DOORS HARD TO OPEN

Model and Year: 1991 CAPRICE

Condition: 1. Front Doors Won't Hold Open on Slight Incline 2. Front Doors Hard To Open

Cause: Door hold open spring is too weak or too strong.

Correction: Replace door hold open spring with P/N 20361482 prior to the following VIN Breakpoints:

MW226576 MR1 15991

Note: Replace both RH and LH Front Door Hold Open Springs at time of repair.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

Spring Removal Tool: A loaner tool program has been set up through Kent-Moore. Just call 1-800-345-2233 and ask for J-39079-LNR.

Due to the limited number of tools available, please schedule vehicles in a timely manner and return loan tool as soon as possible using the return label.
