SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT PLASTIC WHEEL COVER RETENTION

Subject: SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT PLASTIC WHEEL COVER RETENTION

Model and Year: 1991 CHEVROLET CAPRICE POLICE CARS (SEO 9C1) WITH PLASTIC WHEEL COVERS

General Motors has determined that certain 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Police Cars (SEO 9Cl) with plastic wheel covers may experience degradation of the wheel cover retention system resulting in the loss of the affected wheel cover(s). This is due to the aggressive police car duty cycle in conjunction with more frequent service maintenance inspection associated with police fleet vehicles.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Involved are certain 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Police Cars (SEO 9C1) with plastic wheel covers built within the following VIN breakpoints:

SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT

This Special Policy covers the condition described with no deductible for 6 (six) months from the date of the owner letter regardless of mileage (policy will expire on June 13, 1992). Correction, at no charge to the customer, will consist of replacing all four (4) plastic wheel covers with redesigned stainless steel wheel covers should a police department desire to have their wheel covers replaced.

This "Special Policy Adjustment Bulletin" should be filed in your "Special Policy Adjustment Bulletins" binder previously furnished to dealers by General Motors.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Owners/Police Fleets will be notified of this Special Policy on their vehicles by Chevrolet Motor Division (see copy of owner letter included with this bulletin).

PARTS INFORMATION

Parts required for this Special Policy are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). To ensure these parts will be obtained as soon as possible, they should be ordered from GMSPO on a "C.I.O." order with no special instruction code, but on an advise code (2).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove plastic wheel covers and install stainless steel wheel covers.

Submit a claim with the information indicated below:

* The "Parts Allowance" should be the sum total of the current GMSPO Dealer Net price plus 30% of all parts required for the repair.

This notice is sent to inform you of a "Special Policy" covering the plastic wheel covers on your Chevrolet Caprice Police vehicles.

Recently, General Motors has determined that certain 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Police Cars with plastic wheel covers may experience degradation of the wheel cover retention system resulting in the loss of the affected wheel cover(s). This is due to the aggressive police car duty cycle in conjunction with more frequent service maintenance/ inspection associated with police fleet vehicles.

This condition is unacceptable to us, and we are certain that it would be unacceptable to you if it occurred on your vehicles. As a result, Caprice police vehicles equipped with plastic wheel covers may have a set of redesigned stainless steel wheel covers installed as replacements at no charge. This "Special Policy" will be in effect for six (6) months from the date of this letter regardless of mileage.

If you wish to take advantage of this "Special Policy", please contact your Chevrolet Dealer. Vehicles will be eligible for this "Special Policy" replacement only once, and only vehicles originally equipped with plastic wheel covers will be covered. If you have any questions regarding this program, please direct them to your dealer or to your Chevrolet Fleet Service Contact (see chart on page 2).
