THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 91-450-5, DATED NOVEMBER 1991. AN ADDITIONAL CORRECTION HAS BEEN ADDED AND THE LABOR HOURS CHANGED. ALL COPIES OF 91-450-5 SHOULD BE DISCARDED.
Condition: Some operators of 1991 Caprice police cars may comment on front brake pad life.
Correction: Remove and discard both RH and LH side air deflectors for better air flow and front brake cooling. (Reference Figure 1).
Also, a larger wheel cylinder has been released for the rear brakes. This will give more brake pressure in the rear, which should result in increased front pad life. Replace both wheel cylinders with new cylinders, P/N 18004793 following applicable Service Manual procedure.
Parts are currently available through GMSPO.
Labor Operation Number: T1775

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
