Some 1992 B Cars built early in the year were built with a keyless entry (option AUO) receiver module which was not properly wired. The module is located under the rear package shelf, between the rear speakers. All cars built with this condition had the option removed from the invoice before shipment from the assembly plant, and were shipped without the transmitter.
If a transmitter from Parts is used in an attempt to use the keyless entry feature, the trunk release function will not work. NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT THESE VEHICLES.
The receiver module MUST be left in the vehicle for the normal power door locks to work properly. DO NOT REMOVE THE RECEIVER.
Vehicles after the following VIN's are built properly:
Willow Run: NW103483 (NW100922 and NW101562 are also correct) Arlington: NR101011
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
