Removal Procedure
Important:
• | There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement. Only
replace a restricted fuel filter. |
• | Inspect the fuel tank internally and clean the fuel tank if you
find a restricted fuel filter. |
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel System Pressure
Relief Procedure.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Clean all the fuel filter connections and the surrounding areas
before disconnecting the fuel pipes in order to avoid possible contamination
of the fuel system.
- Remove the fuel filter bracket attaching bolt.
- Disconnect the quick-connect fittings from the fuel filter. Refer
to Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings.
- Remove the fuel filter.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the protective caps from the new filter.
- Install the new plastic connector retainers on the filter inlet
and outlet tubes. Install the retainers in the same positions as on the old
filter noting the direction of fuel flow arrow.
- Connect the quick-connect fittings to the fuel filter. Refer to
Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings.
- Trap the fuel filter over the return pipe and install the filter
to the frame with the attaching bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter attaching bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for leaks.
8.1. | Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds. |
8.2. | Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds. |
8.3. | Turn the ignition switch ON. |
8.4. | Check for fuel leaks. |
