Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1996 🢒 Caprice 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Controls - 4.3L (Caprice Only) and 5.7L 🢒 Idle Air Control Valve/Coolant Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 12592 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.

    3. Object Number: 35845 Size: SH
  3. Remove the IAC valve.

    4. Object Number: 35848 Size: SH
  4. Remove the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws.
  5. Remove the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
  6. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
  7. Inspect the gasket sealing surfaces for corrosion or damage that would cause a coolant leak. Replace the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly or the throttle body if necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 35848 Size: SH
  1. Install a new gasket.
  2. Install the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly.
  3. Install the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the idle air control valve/coolant cover assembly screws to 3.2 N·m (28 lb in).

  4. Install the IAC valve.

    5. Object Number: 12592 Size: SH
  5. Install the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
