Removal Procedure
- Remove the fasteners
from the air cleaner cover (2).
- Lift the air cleaner cover (2), MAF sensor and the resonator as
a unit.
- Remove the air filter element (3).
- Inspect the air filter element (3) for dust, dirt and water. Clean
or replace if as necessary. Refer to Section OB.
Installation Procedure
Notice: If the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is installed backwards,
the system will go rich. An arrow cast into the plastic portion of the sensor
indicates proper air flow direction. The arrow must point toward the engine.
- Install the air filter
element (3) into the air cleaner housing (4).
- Position the air cleaner cover (2), MAF sensor (6) and the resonator
(7) back into place.
- Connect the fasteners to the air cleaner cover (2).
- Check the clamps at the MAF sensor (6) and tighten as necessary.
- Check joints between the ducts, resonators and the throttle body
for possible leaks. Repair as necessary.
