Removal Procedure

Adjust the linkage so that the engine will start in only Park and Neutral.

    Caution: Personal injury may result if the engine can be started in a drive position.

  1. Remove the retainer and the shifter handle.
  2. Remove the floor shift control console. Refer to Front Floor Console in Instrument Panel and Gauges.
  3. Remove the transmission shift cable and the park-lock cable.

  5. Remove the floor shift control assembly bolts.
  6. Remove the floor shift control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 97255  Size: SH
  1. Install the floor shift control assembly.
  2. Install the floor shift control bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the transmission shift cable and the park-lock cable.
  5. Install the floor shift control console. Refer to Front Floor Console in Instrument Panel and Gauges.
  6. Install the retainer and the shifter handle.
