Current Draw from Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE)After DTCs Cleared or SPS Programming with Tech 2 (Export Only)

Subject:Current Draw from Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) After DTCs Cleared or SPS Programming with Tech 2®

Models:2007-2008 Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina (Export Only)

This bulletin is being updated from Issue 2 by including an additional cause for RSE current draw. Please replace your copy of the previous bulletin H07-08-06.

When vehicles equipped with the Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) option undergo either of the following there is potential that the RSE module will not correctly reset. This may result in a constant current draw when not in use and may lead to a serious dead battery situation.

    • flash programming (SPS) of any module on either of the GM LAN networks
        OR
    • clearing of Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), including clearing DTC’s from the whole vehicle (regardless of whether there were DTCs logged in the RSE or not).

The RSE system may not respond to a command to return to a "normal" state after SPS programming or DTC clearing and can potentially stay in "programming" mode.

Revised software was introduced into production to address the SPS-related issue only from the following breakpoint. .

Important: A production fix for the issue related to DTC clearing is currently being developed
