This bulletin supersedes H07-08-22. It is updated by advising of revised IPC software. Please discard issue 1 and replace it with this issue (Issue 2).
The left hand (LH) scroll wheel on the steering wheel controls may be inoperative for radio functions at times.
There are two identified issues:
• | Operator misunderstanding |
• | Potential Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) software issue |
The IPC software issue was upgraded in production with the introduction of MY08.5 (BRL) vehicles on 14/09/07.
For any customer complaints, first explain to the customer the operation of the scroll wheel function as outlined below under "Scroll Wheel Operation". If this explains the reasons for the customer’s complaint, then no further action is required.
If this does not correct the issue, refer to the "Software Issue" section below.
The LH scroll wheel is used for both radio and trip computer functions. The scroll wheel will only adjust the radio when in radio mode.
When in radio mode there are two small arrows at the top of the IPC display as shown in Figure 1. The LH scroll wheel will only adjust the radio when these arrows are present. If these arrows are not displayed, then the LH scroll wheel will not adjust the radio.
After using the trip button to change the display, these arrows will disappear for approximately 10 seconds (1). During this time, the LH scroll wheel is in trip mode and will not adjust the radio. This is normal operation. Refer to Figure 2.
The second identified issue is when the arrows (as shown in Figure 1) disappear and fail to come back.
This issue only occurs if the radio display is turned on in the customization menu in the cluster.
After confirming that the software issue described above is the cause of the customer's concern, perform SPS programming of the instrument cluster (IPC) from TIS2WEB or TIS DVD #04/2008 or later.
