Subject: | Upper Engine Repair Procedure Revised |
Models: | 2007-2009 Chevrolet Caprice, Luminia |
It has been identified that some dealers are removing complete engine assemblies to gain access to "difficult to remove" engine compartment components for the HFV6 and GenIV V8 engine.
If engine components such as inlet manifolds, fuel injectors and cylinder heads require removal, there is a straightforward method which may be used to simplify the task, rather than engine removal.
Dealers are advised to remove the plastic underhood plenum, referred to as the "air inlet grille" in SI, to gain access to these components and their fasteners. This procedure has been confirmed as best practice and the relevant service information
has been updated accordingly.
