Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement 3.6L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1949680  Size: SH

    Important: If outlet hose (1) is not being replaced leave retaining clamp (2) attached to outlet hose.

  3. Release the retaining hose clamp (1) and remove the outlet hose (2).
  4. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Remove the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1949768  Size: SH

    Important: If outlet hose (1) is not being replaced leave retaining clamp (2) attached to hose.

    Important: Access to the outlet hose is restricted, removal of the cooling fan's will aid access. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement .

  8. Remove the outlet hose (1) by releasing the retaining hose clamp (2)

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the outlet hose (1) and secure it with the retaining hose clamp (2).
  2. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Secure the outlet hose (2) by opening the retaining hose clamp (1) and sliding it over the hose (2).
  6. Install the radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  8. Inspect cooling system for leaks.

Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement 6.0L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Remove the radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
  3. Remove the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.
  4. Caution: Refer to Radiator Cap Removal Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Ensure engine is below 50 C before removing the radiator cap.
  6. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Important: If outlet hose (3) is not being replaced leave retaining clamp (2) attached to hose.

  7. Release the outlet hose retaining hose clamp (2).
  8. Detach the outlet hose (3) from the thermostat housing (1).
  9. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  11. Remove the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

    Important: If outlet hose (1) is not being replaced leave retaining clamp (2) attached to hose.

    Important: Access to the outlet hose is restricted, removal of the cooling fan's will aid with access. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement.

  13. Remove the outlet hose (1) by releasing the retaining hose clamp (2).
  14. Remove the outlet hose (1).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the bottom end of the outlet hose (1).
  2. Notice: Refer to General Repair Instructions in the Preface section.

  3. Secure the hose by sliding the retaining hose clamp (2) over it.
  4. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 1949772  Size: SH
  7. Install the top end of the outlet hose (3), onto the thermostat housing (1).
  8. Secure the outlet hose by sliding the retaining hose clamp (2) over it.
  9. Install the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.
  10. Install the air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  11. Install the radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  13. Inspect cooling system for leaks.
