Clutch Pedal Safety Switch | Applied/Released | Applied | Released | -- |
The clutch safety switch is a normally open switch. When the ignition is ON, the engine control module (ECM) supplies B+ on the signal circuit to the clutch safety switch. A wire from the clutch safety switch to chassis ground completes the electrical circuit. The ECM senses B+ on the signal circuit with the clutch pedal released, and zero volts with the clutch pedal depressed.
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | DTC P0500 is not set. |
The ECM detects changes in vehicle greater than 38 km/h (24 mph) without the ECM detecting a clutch pedal transition.
DTC P0833 is a Type B DTC.
DTC P0833 is a Type B DTC.
This test procedure requires that the battery is completely charged. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test.

⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified value, replace the clutch safety switch. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
