Condition

Some customer may comments that the key, once inserted into the ignition cylinder, cannot be turned.

Cause

This condition may be caused by burrs in the cylinder casing. These prevent the tumblers from moving freely when the key is inserted.

Correction

Replace the lock set, including the ignition lock cylinder and door lock cylinders. Ensure that the new key code is recorded for future reference.

Please advise Response Computing at radio@responsecomputing.com.au of any changes to key codes. You will need to provide the following information:

    • Vehicle VIN
    • New key code (5 digits beginning with 6xxxx)
    • Name of dealership
    • Date of replacement

If the key cannot be turned, use a pick to free the jammed tumblers. (A pick can be made from a 1.5mm thick paperclip with a 4mm tip bent at 90 degrees).
