Customers may comment that the "stability ctrl off" message flashes in the instrument cluster momentarily and a warning chime sounds. The EBCM (electronic brake control module) set DTC U100-00.
This condition may be caused when the engine ECU fails to send a message that is required to the EBCM. As a result, the EBCM sets a DTC and the warning is displayed on the instrument cluster. The message is only missing momentarily; as soon as the message is received correctly, the warning disappears. This error can occur and then correct itself so fast that the driver may not see the warning message, they may just hear the warning chime.
Revised IPC software has been developed to correct this condition on vehicles built prior to the VIN breakpoint. After verifying that the vehicle has set a DTC U0100 and has the condition described above, perform service programming (SPS) of the instrument cluster from TIS2WEB on TIS DVD 88 or later.
