Important: The location of the Engine Serial Number
has changed from the previous model. The vehicle must be raised to view the Engine
Serial Number as it can only be seen from underneath the vehicle.
The Engine Serial Number is located on the left-hand side at the rear of the
engine cylinder block (1) and is stamped or laser etched onto the block at
the assembly plant. When reading the Engine Serial Number the following information
can be obtained:
Engine Serial Number LE0*061870560* is used as an example:
• | The first three digits, LE0, identify the engine model by its Regular
Production Option (RPO) code as an LE0 engine. |
• | The next digit, *, is a number limiter and has no meaning. |
• | The next two digits, 06, identify the build year as 2006. |
• | The next three digits, 187, identify the Julian date the engine was manufactured
as day 187. |
• | The next four digits, 0560, identify the assembly plant sequence number
as 0560. |
• | The next digit, *, is a number limiter and has no meaning. |
