Water Pump Installation L98, LS2
- Insert two retaining bolts (1) at each end of the pump, place the new gasket of the bolts and use this as a guide to install the pump.
- Install and tighten the remaining bolts.
Notice: DO NOT use cooling system seal tabs, or similar compounds, unless otherwise instructed. The use of cooling system seal tabs, or similar compounds, may restrict coolant flow through the passages of the cooling system or the engine components. Restricted coolant flow may cause engine overheating and/or damage to the cooling system or the engine components/assembly.
Important: Ensure all mating surfaces are clean and free of grease.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
Water Pump Installation LS3
- Install the water pump (1) and NEW gaskets (2).
- Install the water pump bolts (3).
- Tighten the water pump bolts a first pass to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Tighten the water pump bolts a final pass to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

Important: All gasket surfaces are to be free of oil or other foreign material during assembly.
