Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake caliper and brake disc. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  4. Inspect the park brake shoe and lining for the following conditions:
  5. • Substantial wear indicated by the park brake lining being worn down to the shoe
    • Brake lining cracking
    • Oil or fluid contamination of the brake lining
  6. If any of the conditions listed are found, replace the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement.
  7. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  8. Install the rear brake disc. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  9. Install the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement.
  10. Install the rear wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
