Valve Spring Compressor |
- Remove the cylinder head with the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold attached. Refer to
Cylinder Head Replacement
.
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Remove the exhaust manifold retaining nuts in the sequence shown.
- Remove the exhaust manifold.
- Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
- Remove the exhaust manifold studs.
- Remove the thermostat housing mounting bolts.
- Remove the thermostat housing assembly.
- Remove the coolant bypass housing mounting bolts and the housing.
- Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to
Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the intake manifold retaining bolt and nuts in the sequence shown.
- Remove the intake manifold support bracket.
- Remove the intake manifold.
- Remove the intake manifold gasket.
- Remove the intake manifold stud.
- Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to
Camshaft Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the direct ignition system (DIS) coil and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve adapter retaining bolts.
- Remove the DIS coil and the EGR valve adapter.
- Remove the spark plugs.
- Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts gradually in the sequence shown for each camshaft cap.
- Remove the intake camshaft caps. Maintain the correct positions for installation.
- Remove the intake camshaft.
- Remove the intake valve tappet adjusters.
- Remove the exhaust camshaft caps. Maintain the correct positions for installation.
- Remove the exhaust camshaft.
- Remove the exhaust valve tappet adjusters.
- Using
KM-653-A
compress the valve springs.
- Remove the valve retainers.
- Remove the
J 8062
and
KM-653-A
.
- Remove the valve spring caps.
- Remove the valve springs. Maintain the original position of the valve springs for installation.
- Remove the valves. Maintain the original position of the valves for installation.
