- Install suitable fittings to the master cylinder outlet ports that match the type of flare seat and also provide for a hose attachment.
- Install transparent hoses to the fittings on the master cylinder outlet ports.
- Place the end of each hose in the reservoir.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to DOT 4 Brake Fluid Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.
Notice: When adding fluid to the brake fluid reservoir or to the clutch fluid reservoir, use only Super DOT-4
or equivalent DOT-4 brake fluid from a clean, sealed container. This polyglycol brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture. Do not use fluid from an open container that may be contaminated with water. Improper or contaminated fluid could result in damage
to the system components.
Important: Ensure the brake fluid level stays above half-full during the bleeding procedure.
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir with GM Vehicle Care® Brake and Clutch Fluid Super DOT-4, GM P/N 88958860, or the equivalent DOT-4 brake fluid.
- Ensure the end of each hose remains submerged in the brake fluid.
- Use a soft wood dowel in order to slowly push in the primary piston and release.
- Observe the flow of brake fluid in the hoses the reservoir.
- Continue pushing and releasing the primary piston until there is no sign of air in the brake fluid.
- Remove the hoses from the fittings.
- Remove the fittings from the master cylinder.
- Install caps or plugs to the master cylinder outlet ports in order to prevent brake fluid loss or contamination.
- Install the cap seal to the reservoir.
- Install the cap to the reservoir.
