Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement LAT/LE5

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the hybrid system. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the belt tensior. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement
  5. remove the generator starter (LAT Engine). Refer to Generator with Starter Replacement
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  8. Remove compressor hose assembly. Refer to Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement .

A/C Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

TIP:

    • Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.
    • Reposition the CRFM if necessary.

Tighten
22 N·m (16 lb ft)

A/C Compressor Assembly

Procedure

  1. Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
  2. When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing .
  3. Using J 39400 leak test A/C compressor fittings.

TIP:

    • Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.
    • Reposition the CRFM if necessary.

Tighten
22 N·m (16 lb ft)

A/C Compressor Assembly

Procedure

Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.

50 N·m (37 lb ft)

A/C Compressor Stud

Tighten
8 N·m (71 lb in)

A/C Compressor Bolt (Qty: 2)

Procedure

  1. Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.
  2. Reposition the CRFM if necessary.

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)
