Whoosh, Gurgle, Fluid Flow Type Noise in Instrument Panel After Compressor Clutch is Engaged (Recharge A/C System to 650 Grams Refrigerant)

Subject:Whoosh, Gurgle, Fluid Flow Type Noise in Instrument Panel After Compressor Clutch is Engaged (Recharge A/C System to 650 grams Refrigerant)

Models:2008-2009 Chevrolet Captiva Sport (Built in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico - Plant Code S in 11th VIN Position)
2008-2009 Saturn VUE

Condition

Some customers may comment on HVAC fluid flow noise (whoosh or gurgle type noise) coming from the right side of the instrument panel.

This is a normal characteristic of fluid flow through the air conditioning system and does not indicate a problem and will not affect the system operation and/or durability. The noise will typically last for approximately five seconds after compressor engagement while the system pressure stabilizes. In some cases, the noise may be louder than typical.

Correction

Important: DO NOT replace the TXV, compressor, refrigerant hoses or any other parts.

In cases where the noise is louder than typical, technicians are to recover and recharge the AC system from 575 grams to 650 grams. This charge adjustment will slightly reduce the noise level.

Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Procedure in SI for instructions.
