J 43650 Balance Shaft Bushing Remover/Installer


    Object Number: 598032  Size: SH
  1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the J 43650 .

  2. Object Number: 598033  Size: SH
  3. Seat the balance shaft bushing into the bore using the J 43650 and a wrench.
  4. When the J 43650 is fully seated in the engine block, remove it with a wrench.

  5. Object Number: 412419  Size: SH

    Important: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.

    Install the balance shaft assemblies to the engine using the following steps:

  6. Place the number one piston at top dead center (TDC).
  7. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
  8. Install the balance shafts into their bores.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the balance shaft retaining bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the balance shaft retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the EN-43650 installer  (1).

  2. Object Number: 2146379  Size: SH
  3. Seat the balance shaft bushing into the bore using the EN-43650 installer  (1) and a wrench.
  4. When the EN-43650 installer is fully seated in the engine block, remove it with a wrench.

  5. Object Number: 2146297  Size: SH

    Note: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.

  6. Place the number one piston at top dead center (TDC).
  7. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
  8. Install the balance shafts (1) into their bores.
  9. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  10. Install the balance shaft retaining bolts and tighten to 10 N·m  (89 lb in).
