EN-47719 Tensioner Compressor
Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine front cover. Refer to
Engine Front Cover Replacement
.
- Align the crankshaft timing mark (1) to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain tensioner (2).
- Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear (3) with the timing mark on top of the timing chain tensioner (4).
- Remove the camshaft sprocket bolts.
- Remove the timing chain, camshaft, and crankshaft sprockets.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner bolts.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner.
Installation Procedure
- Install the crankshaft sprocket.
- Apply prelube to the crankshaft sprocket thrust surface. Refer to
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the timing chain tensioner.
- Install the timing chain tensioner bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Using the
EN-47719
, fully collapse the tensioner, and
place the tensioner retaining pin into the retaining hole (1).
- Align the crankshaft timing mark (1) to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain tensioner (2).
- Hold the camshaft sprocket with the timing chain hanging down and install the timing chain to the crankshaft gear.
- Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear (3) with the timing mark on top of the timing chain tensioner (4).
- Align the dowel in the camshaft sprocket with the dowel hole in the camshaft.
- Draw the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft using the mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Coat the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets with clean engine oil.
- Install the engine front cover. Refer to
Engine Front Cover Replacement
.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine front cover. Refer to

- Align the crankshaft timing mark (1) to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain tensioner (2).
- Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear (3) with the timing mark on top of the timing chain tensioner (4).
- Remove the camshaft sprocket bolts.
- Remove the timing chain, camshaft, and crankshaft sprockets.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner bolts.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner.
Installation Procedure
- Install the crankshaft sprocket.
- Apply prelube to the crankshaft sprocket thrust surface. Refer to
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.
- Install the timing chain tensioner.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the timing chain tensioner bolts and tighten to
21 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Using the
EN-47719 , fully collapse the tensioner, and place the tensioner retaining pin into the retaining hole (1).
- Align the crankshaft timing mark (1) to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain tensioner (2).
- Hold the camshaft sprocket with the timing chain hanging down and install the timing chain to the crankshaft gear.
- Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear (3) with the timing mark on top of the timing chain tensioner (4).
- Align the dowel in the camshaft sprocket with the dowel hole in the camshaft.
- Draw the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft using the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts
16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Coat the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets with clean engine oil.
- Install the engine front cover. Refer to
Engine Front Cover Replacement.
