Tools Required

EN 46101 Spark Plug Tube Seal Guide


    Object Number: 1836418 Size: SH
  1. Install the EN 46101 onto the spark plug tubes of the right cylinder head.

    2. Object Number: 1836419 Size: SH
  2. Install the NEW camshaft cover bolt grommets prior to installing the camshaft cover bolts.
  3. Wipe the camshaft cover sealing surface on the right cylinder head with a clean, lint-free cloth.

    4. Object Number: 1836422 Size: SH
  4. Place a bead 8 mm (0.3150 in) in diameter by 4 mm (0.1575 in) in height of RTV sealant, GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent, on the engine front cover split lines (1).

    5. Object Number: 1836426 Size: SH
  5. Place the right camshaft cover into position onto the right cylinder head.

    6. Object Number: 1864544 Size: SH
  6. Loosely install the right camshaft cover bolts.

    7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1864545 Size: SH
  7. Tighten the right camshaft cover bolts in the sequence shown.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the right camshaft cover bolts in the sequence to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Remove the EN 46101 from the spark plug tubes of the right cylinder head.

    9. Object Number: 1864427 Size: SH
  9. Install the NEW spark plugs into the right cylinder head.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plugs to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the ignition coils.

    11. Object Number: 1864421 Size: SH
  11. Install the ignition coil bolts.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the ignition coil bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  2. Install the NEW camshaft cover bolt grommets prior to installing the camshaft cover bolts.
  3. Wipe the camshaft cover sealing surface on the right cylinder head with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  7. Tighten the right camshaft cover bolts in the sequence shown and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    8. Object Number: 1864548 Size: SH
  8. Remove the EN 46101 guide from the spark plug tubes of the right cylinder head.

    9. Object Number: 1864427 Size: SH
  9. Install the NEW spark plugs into the right cylinder head and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    10. Object Number: 1864424 Size: SH
  10. Install the ignition coils.

    11. Object Number: 1864421 Size: SH
  11. Install the ignition coil bolts and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
